The P.C. Classic Car & Restoration Show 2022 at the NEC | Photo highlights

Top Rated Car Covers Up To 50% Off

This is my favourite of the two classic car shows held every year at the NEC in Birmingham. The November show focuses more on immaculately restored cars (although there are a few projects dotted around), but the emphasis at the Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show held in March of this year (2022) was very much on un-restored cars, original cars, barn-finds, rusty cars and work-in-progress restoration projects. There are shiny restored cars of course, but the %age of un-restored classic cars and other vehicles is much higher and, as I’m fond of “barn find” derelicts, I feel a bit more at home at this event.
During my visit I photographed many hundreds of vehicles, on club stands, trade stands, and also in the vast classic car auction area where there were some great cars to be found. I couldn’t feature everything in this collection, so I’ve picked some of the more standout vehicles, many of which prompted memories for me as cars that belonged to various neighbours and friends when I was growing up (have I grown up? mmmm).
While many cars achieved high prices in the auction, a few sold for comparatively modest sums, a couple of which I think I’ll be kicking myself over for not having a go at for some time to come …. see the video and let me know if you agree.
There was something for everyone at the 2022 NEC restoration show. Highlights for me definitely include the wonderful “barn find” Jowett Bradford ice cream van, the much-dis-assembled Standard 10 Companion, wonderful vans in the shape of the Riley 9 and the vintage Bean light commercials, an eye-catching pre-war Tatra, a soooo original mid-1930s Rover saloon, the Frisky Sprint (the Frisky club stand is always worth a look), and a faded but very sound (and rare) Austin A70 Hampshire pickup.
Hopefully this selection of photos will give an overview of this excellent event, please let me know in the comments which of the classic cars featured here were your favourites.
